Alexa Traffic Rank is a measure of a websites popularity. The rank is calculated using a combination of average daily visitors and page views over the past three months. The sites with the highest number of visitors and page views have the lowest scores, and these would be websites such as Google, Facebook, Youtube etc.
Personally, I was surprised at the website coming up with the best Alexa Ranking, but I am aware Apropos have put a lot of effort into SEO. I was also pleasantly surprised to find Conservatory Outlet at #6 and RCG coming in at #16.
I realise there are other factors to take into account when ranking websites, such as the sites ability to convert sales, the design of the site and it’s functionality. But, Alexa does give a good indication of those companies or organisations who are trying hardest to get their website seen by the public.
It was a painstaking process compiling the list, and if I’ve missed any companies out then I’d like to hear from you…

Good news for conservatory outlet.
I think the ranking works – the smaller the number – the better the site is doing.
I am quite surprised Dave is not higher up the list than that given the google position
Hi Matthew
Yes, I was surprised too, but I believe the ranking will depend upon direct traffic from other forms of advertising, PPC etc.

Hi Matthew,
Well done mate. You must be alot more popular than “The Glazine” it just shows that you are now the most read Double glazing Blog on the web. Bloody over achiever!!
Andrew.
PS I’m number 47!!!!
really interesting stats … Apropos is a great site with awe-inspiring projects (I must confess to checking some them out for inspiration from time to time) though I am surprised it is so high up …mind they do invest heavily in magazine advertising to drive people to their site
though as my father used to say,
… a wise man uses statistics like a drunk uses lampposts … for support rather than illumination … !
would be interesting to establish what the average click to enquiry is?
Interesting article RCG.
I note Planet PVC are listed at No. 29.
Who is getting those leads?? All the companies on the site: Planet PVC, Evolution Group etc. all went down over 18 months ago.
If the data is based on the last 3 months traffic …any ideas anyone?

Yes, the old Planet site still ranks well in the search engines, due to a good template and a degree of seo done at the time, although the site is slowly dropping.
As for the leads? Good question.
