The following video shows a recent window and door installation. The tenant in the property is a bit unsure about whether the work carried out so far is up to scratch.
For the record, I had nothing to do with the measuring here…

“We can not see the levels here so it is hard to comment but looking at the head, if all is level, might only be 10 to 15mm out, really should have removed the timber door jamb though
reminds you of doubleglazing installers from the past !!!!!!!!!!
I despair of people who post this sort of crap on the net, who does he think he is?
he is not even paying for the job!!
“the landlords builders fitted the door” says it all . If he was told the job was finished, complete, where’s my cheque , then he might have an issue .
Ok, I would like to think our lads would have measured what they brought and shouted COCK UP before they ripped out , but builders may assume they have the right product!
I don’t think they left the old jamb in , but fitted a timber packer to at least make the jamb a bit more solid.
This is obviously an issue in progress , I wonder if he will film the outcome when it is finished off and a new correct size door fitted.
I thought this wasn’t going to become a place to showcase shoddy fitting, showing our industry in a bad light? It needs to be viewed when the job is finished. No fitter is going to fully finish a job when there is so much more internal decoration left to do. No point in distrubing new tiling/plastering etc.
You looking forward to Xmas then you miserable bugger?!?!
Well said Kevin.
The video is just as informative for what it doesn’t tell us- for instance is there an underlying issue between the tenant/landlord? Was the landlord an innocent party caught in an almighty cock up?
It would be nice to see a video posted when the job is completed, but then that would be fair and far less entertaining.
I suppose anyone can mismeasure, we’ll have to look at the picture when it’s been replaced with the correctly measured items to decide, the only difference is if my company had fitted it we would of informed the customer there had been a measuring issue and would tell them it was going to be replaced. But then again my fitters do check the sizes before they remove existing windows or doors.
looks like the messuring was done by counting the bricks and adding 16mm for morter, when it is clear the mortar was 12mm hence the gap, this is an easy mistake to make, i think the brick layer was at fault, however fitting it from a moving van at 35mph would also contribute to poor fitting.
