In all honesty , and I am not Anglian bashing , but if they are happy to release this comparison for a B rated window , why don't all you A rated boys show it and explain that your A rated is even better .
One issue Russell may be able to explain is that he seems to be selling dummy sashes in the frames, now if this is standard , surely his WER certificates should be tested on a window that has 2 sashes ( ie an exagerated outer frame all round ) worth a thought maybe?

Fair play Matthew very interesting but.
1 white Paper ? it is a test report ( inaccurate at that) which can hardly be called independant as it has the anglian logo and sales numbers all over it ,
2 The owners name is Winter :) love that bit
3 the outside temp is 4deg colder in the 'after shot' which explains the bluer brickwork BUT the internal temp is 4deg colder aswell , strange that one, why would the house be colder after all that insultion :) , not that a cold inside would make the after shot look better , would it?
4 would anglian care to paint the porch timbers on anyone elses porch ?
5 It doesn't explain the appearnce of the internal window coverings
6 As for the monetary savings , I am yet to be sure that the GGF calculator allows for the solar gain advantage of single glazing :)
I am sure there are some more holes in 'white paper' but I have seen enough to be convinced .............NOT

I'm struggling with the link myself now. It's because it's in PDF format, and I'm a bit technically inept with stuff like this.

I'll email it to you. Anybody else want a copy let me know...

Sorry Matthew, the link didn't work for me, but I would guess if it is anything like the accuracy of the advert , that the paper isn't actually white , but covered in lots of black ink , this is only a guess , but probably accurate :)

I have received an email from the Anglian Marketing Team as follows:

Recently I’ve seen an increase in the number of comments on Renegade Conservatory Guy questioning the validity of Anglian’s latest advert showing the benefits of energy efficient windows.

The tests were carried out by a professional independent adjudicator and all calculations, figures and details put on a “white Paper” which I have attached for your information.

This should hopefully give you sufficient information to allow a fair and responsible debate regarding the accuracy of the tests.

Hope all is going well and if you need any additional information on this subject please let me know.

Interesting stuff...my only thought was the camera man could do with a few sessions up the gym!

As for Anglian's marketing department manipulating circumstances to enhance their product...c'mon surely not!!??

We mainly sell 'A' rated windows, though we do not major on the point, since with so many 'low end' window companies advertising A rated windows 'as standard', the key selling point loses its value (unfortunately).

Can I just add a good camera operator can make the survey look as though there are gaps/draughts, "look at this blue bit here Mr.Smith, you need new windows", easy to do by adjusting the temperature scale ;o)

Its bollocks. Jon Twigge will confirm. Looked at this 12 months ago, went on a course to investigate. There needs to be at least a 10 deg difference in temperature, so your buggered in summer. In winter the heating needs to be on a good few hours before the survey to get the temperaure difference. Rain & wind also gives off inaccurate readings, even sunny days cause problems. Very interesting what the cameras can do and unless there has been a major leap in camera technolgy then just another gimmick to dupe the customer IMO.
