We’ve never had a leaking conservatory…
In fact, I thought that ‘leaking conservatories’ were an urban myth, blown out of proportion by fussy customers.
And then I saw this video:
It’s not one of ours I might add!

The leak can easily be fixed, strip the roof, fit a wider 265 box gutter, new roof and get the levels right. planting cress is always the wrong way to go though.
This looks like a very bad design conservatory as the box gutter should have been built away from the facia board to allow the water to run of the existing house roof in to the box gutter, it also shows a very bad fitting job, it just shows you people think they can design and fit conservatories but they clearly cant. send me the name of the company and i will be a consultant for them.
No consevatory will leak if it is designed well and fitted right
Just a touch of condensation- what’s all the fuss?
“a young steven spielberg gets his first video camera and has a crazy idea for a film featuring a man-eating shark terrorising a local conservatory”
”No conservatory will leak if it is designed well and fitted right”
But what if the manufacturing procedures are poor?
This problem must have affected hundreds of small companies such as mine. In my experience most roof suppliers are not interested in offering any back up whatsoever. Much easier for them to wash their hands and to leave problems that are clearly their responsibility, in the lap of the installer.
”Find a better supplier” I here you say,but this does not solve the problem in hand, and anyway we are expendable as far as big suppliers are concerned.
I wonder if he went for the indoor waterfall feature.?
i have come accross this problem many times when working for conservatory company in weston supetr mere .there will be joint in the box that has only been sealed with a bit of silicone and not pushed together .fill the gap with fiberglase compound and put a sealing tape over this.on long box gutters it is now best to put a down pipe at each end of the run to take the water away.this is why i have started up my own company .to many fitters just want the money but dont care about the customer
I feel Mike Crewdson may be right, condensation is big in our area too, Dave Forse needs to look at the size of the roofs dumping into a narrow gutter, cant help but over flow.
I have just had the same problem with my conservatory during very heavy rain. which has a box gutter fitted along three sides. When i looked into the matter i found that the gutter was full of moss etc from the tiled roof and that both corners of the box guttering was very restricted. The rain water then overflowed the top of the box guttering and into the conservatory.
Because of the open top design of the box guttering (which is not sealed from the conservatory) then i feel that any obsrtuction to the water flow in the guttering can cause this to happen.
Regular cleaning of the box gutter is esential but this is not easy on a tiled roof. I would advise an oversize box gutter with down pipes at each end.
