This post is a shameless plug about our company, and the sales seminar we recently held in Wakefield.
We’ve never asked all our Conservatory Outlet dealers, their sales guys and our favourite suppliers to one venue before, and ask them to listen to Andrew and I talk publicly about so many topics.
It was an opportunity for us to present a brand new complete marketing package to all our dealers, including:
Point of Sale literature
We strongly believe that for our dealers to be able to sell our products successfully they need all the tools, such as the point of sale literature I’ve mentioned, and also consumer DVDs.
Consumer DVDs
The personalised DVDs are overprinted with the individual company’s logo, and each DVD has an intro specific to their company.
New website
We’ve always had a strong Conservatory Outlet website, but the site has been completely rebuilt with a web 2.0 feel and far more good information about our product range.
Template Dealer websites including:
You will see that these sites are from the same template as the main website, and as we take on new dealers, it is easy to produce a brand new quality website for each one. I genuinely believe these websites look great and the early signs are that these websites are performing extremely well, pulling in plenty of enquiries.
We also supplied to the sales guys:
New sample cases for conservatories and windows
New window samples
Solaris Polycarbonate samples.
I honestly do not feel there is any other window trade fabricator that supplies such a comprehensive range of marketing support such as this - free of charge. I can’t think of any good reason why any window installation company would want to buy from anyone else!?!
We also launched our new product - probably the best white uPVC window on the market. I’ll talk about this new window shortly in a separate post.
Finally, the most important part of the seminar was the ability for our dealers to network with each other, share ideas and work together in building successful futures for all of us.

It looks like a great meeting and almost makes me miss being in the industry. That’s one of the reasons I enjoyed working for the big companies. Feeling like you are part of a big team with a real buzz of enthusiasm. I think it can be quite lonely working for small companies and not having lots of colleagues you can meet up with to discuss and learn from each other.
Maybe you’ve got the right formula. But will you start having awards for the best performers? I used to enjoy the buzz of competing to be top salesman in the region .
Today I’m feeling a bit envious because I was told there was no work for me driving but I have some other face to face customer orienated jobs in the pipeline totally unrelated to double glazing and I’m looking forward to getting these blinkers off completely. Your blinkers seem to be working very well for you!

You’ll be getting sick of me I know. I just had a look at your new website. It looks basic! Almost like one I could build myself. Your old one looked much more stylish and professional with the swirly style at the top to. I used to think “I wish I had the cash to build something like that.”
Still what do I know! After all my years in double glazing I’m still stuck in the old terraced house with the same old car and I’ve ended up as a van driver!

Well you can moderate this. Maybe I’m too outspoken which is why I’ve never lasted in these companies. I like to speak my mind when I should shut up and say “Yes , it’s a wonderful new site!”
I can’t believe you got rid of that interactive showroom from the front page of your web. The one where you could like on the 3D model of each conservatory. That was brilliant! Is it still in there somwhere

The Orion Windows site still has it. I think that’s the template I prefer.

Hi Paul
Thanks for your comments. My responses as follows:
Yes, we had a ‘Top Dog’ competition, where the salesmen for all dealers were included. The winner received a trophy and £500.
Sorry you don’t like the new site layouts. We did opt for a cleaner more simple design, and it seems to be working for us.
I have never not published your comments, have I? OK, I once moderated a few of your swear words, but this is a family show!

Well if it’s working for you I can’t argue with that. I’m surpised though because I thought the old site really made you stand out like a very professional top class company using state of the art web design to make it a more interesting experience for the visitor. Now it only looks like just another window site.
Sorry, but this is meant to be constructive criticism if it helps. Maybe I’m just not good enough to be in the business anymore. I’m puzzled by what the punters want nowadays!
When are you going to start selling driveways, flat roofs, alarms, solar panels , garage conversions? That really used to p me off . Introducing new products ever week and having to do more training when I was quite happy with windows, roofline, garage doors and conservatories. I forgot CCTV as well as alarms. My fault for not being able to move with the times. What would you like to know about driveways or alarms? Go on , ask me something.
The most ridiculous one that Anglian added to their portfolio was Cleanaroof!
Here’s a good suggestion for you. Someone once said to me “Why don’t you do PVC fencing and gates .” Apparently it’s big in France. It saves having to do all that staining. Much more sensible and easy to add to windows. Free PVCu gate with every door! Those small gates for the footpath I mean. You can put the cheque in the post.

Hi Paul
We don’t have any intention of branching out into driveways, CCTV, alarms, flat roofs etc.
We intend specialising on uPVC windows, doors and conservatories - the products we have knowledge in.
