I’m going down to Glassex on the Tuesday, and it’ll be interesting to get a feel for the event as part of Interbuild. Personally, I’m not interested in any of the Interbuild stuff (I visited last year and found it boring) and will be spending more time catching up with the companies in the glass and glazing section.

I’m particularly interested in looking at new products on display at the Ultraframe, Window Widgets and Fab & Fix stands mainly, although I’ll try visit most of the stands. I do hope Glassex is a success, despite being slimmed down as a result of the recession and competition from the G09 regionals. I believe there’s room for multiple slimmed down exhibitions whoever is organising them.
In the evening, I’ve arranged a get-together with most of the Conservatory Outlet dealers for an Italian meal and a few beers. We’ve had an extremely good year collectively, so it will be a great opportunity to swap ideas, and more than anything celebrate our success.
Watch out Broad Street!

I was there today, I (and 9 others) listened to Giles Willson explain the building regs proposals , what a stitch up that appears to be !! there was so little to see that I went home rather than hang around for his WER semina
.
It is such a shame that so few showed any interest in the issue that is going to affect us all
Overall it was very dissapointing , I have to call in again tomorrow , but it is more of a social as you are doing . Still, I have had a chance to collate some figures to show Giles with regard the accuracy of some of his claims
I must admit I was stunned we he stated that an A rated window was a net heater of your house whichever orientation it was on . We had a bit of a “your wrong , no, your wrong” moment , I recall he asked for some evidence , so I shall give it to him in the morning
Visited today and other than the 3 stands you have mentioned an interest in there is no other reason to go.
“although I’ll try visit most of the stands” this shouldn’t be a problem unless you haven’t got a spare 5 minutes, it was a very disappointing show, not only was there a lack of stands, the stands that were there were mainly ones that have been thrown together in the last few days, A couple of pictures and some brochures just to show face.
Unfortunately I personally think Glassex will be no more
I found my visit today really helpful. Never been on a Sunday and I was pleased and a little surprised by the few bodies there. Hopefully those companies that have invested in stand space enjoyed ‘quality not quantity’ in terms if visitors (present company excluded!)
Some of the companies managed to relieve me of hard earned cash (windowlink, easilift to name a few!)
Pleased to see ultraframe’s latest ideas- here’s hoping their ‘concepts’ arrive on the market before I retire in 2030! Various other exciting product developments from other forward thinking companies.
I genuinely thought the interbuild area was sectioned off with a tasteful ballustrade, however it quickly became apparent there were simply lots of companies promoting baconies… Actually there were a few interesting products on display albeit not really geared to the window industry.
Hopefuly all those that have invested in stand space enjoy a successful few days.
Oh…it was also a surprise and delight to view a couple of our conservatory installations on the hall of fame!
Our company has traditionally always been at Glassex although this year we have somehow migrated to the windows and doors section of Interbuild.
The size of the show is definately a sign of the times and from speaking to the floor manager as we were setting up on Friday it was apparent that people had pulled out and were still pulling out at the 11th hour!
Looks like we have still got some quality leads though so from that point of view the first two days have been a success.
Try giving us a visit, Glazpart Hall 5 stand M21. Apologies for the shameless plug here!
