Who is the Renegade Conservatory Guy?

When I first created this blog, I decided that I would remain anonymous.  That way I could speak my mind, and not get in to trouble, but pretty soon I realised a lot of people had figured it out, and combined with me having a big mouth, the cat was soon out of the bag!

So now I just speak my mind, and don’t care if I upset the double glazing establishment!!

My name is Matthew Glover and I live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

I run three double glazing businesses in partnership with my brother, Andrew Glover.

Matthew Glover and Andrew Glover

Our businesses:

Conservatory Outlet - a leading manufacturer of uPVC conservatories, windows and doors.  We supply our products to a network of Conservatory Outlet dealers (and stand alone trade customers) throughout the UK, although mostly in the North and Midlands.  If you’re a consumer, and you’re looking for a quality company you should check us out!

West Yorkshire Windows - this was the original company we formed in February 1994 with an investment of £200.  West Yorkshire Windows installs conservatories and double glazing in West and South Yorkshire, and currently runs around 10 fitting teams from its base in Wakefield.

Conservatory Outlet Glass - we have a separate sealed unit manufacturing plant based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire where we supply all our glazing requirements to West Yorkshire Windows, a number of the Conservatory Outlets, and other trade customers.

In total we have around 120 staff and a group turnover in excess of £8m.

Why do I feel I need to tell the world about the double glazing industry?

Well, I don’t really know much about any other topic, so why not!  Please feel free to comment on any of my posts.  If I disagree with you, I’ll just not add your comment (only kidding!)

Please note:  Any views expressed on this website are my personal views and do not represent the views of Conservatory Outlet, West Yorkshire Windows, Conservatory Outlet Glass, nor are they necessarily shared by other members of our team.

Just found the blog, and it is pure quality. Having been fighting my little corner here for many years giving good service good advice and generally doing very ethical business, I will be watching this space from now on.

Hi . you mention there may be growth opportunities in your piece regarding double glazing tough times..An area you haven,t mentioned is the repair of all types of windows . Whats your view on the growth , or possible decline,in this section of the industry

    Hi Paul
It’s not an area I have been directly involved in. We find that dealing with minor repairs can be a distraction from our core businesses.

However, there is a saying about where there’s muck, there’s money, and I feel this can be the case for people or companies who specialise.

I think there are a couple of opportunities in the following areas:

Conservatory refurbishment - swapping polycarbonate for upgraded poly, fitting solar reflective glass or films etc. Conservatory cleaning is already taking off as a business.

Lock Bumping - for switched on companies who can educate customers as to the risks of lock bumping and lock snapping, there are opportunities for selling better, more secure cylinders.

And in relation to window repairs - this can lead to follow on replacement work.

Just came across this while looking for articles about Abbott Group. Thanks for telling the truth.
Have you any contact names & addresses for Sprint 1234/Safestyle where I could tell them what I think of the way they have treated staff. I don’t mean the accountant address on companies house, but one where it will be read by the person/s that created this mess.

    Hi Steph

I’ll see what I can do and I’ll email you direct with whatever I find for you.
